 APRIL OVER 50 CLUB'S NEWSLETTER

MEMBERSHIP UPDATE    A hearty welcome to all of our new members! I hope that you are coming out to the club and enjoying the activities and meeting new people. Let someone know that you are new and we can show you where things are and introduce you to some of our wonderful members. Our calendar is posted on our bulletin board at the club as well as on our website.  airdrieover50club.com

New members can pick up their membership cards at the club. They are in a black index card box on the desk. Please note that if you joined in late February or early March your membership cards will arrive mid April.

We ask that you use your card to sign in every time you come to the club. Our Board reflects on our attendance to ensure that we are offering activities that will be enjoyed by the majority of our membership.

If you have any questions about your membership or cards, please contact me at  membership@airdrieover50club.com

See you at the CLUB!Heather EvansMembership Director

KEN AND FRIENDS held yet another successful jam (live music and lots of dancing) on the 3rd Saturday of the month from approximately 1 - 3 PM (donations gratefully accepted).  Please always remember to sign in for insurance purposes and the City will then know how well attended our activites are.    Thank you to the entertainers who come very faithfully so we can get in our fun on the dancefloor and some much needed exercise as well.  Fun, laughter and socializing is always part of such an event.    We celebrated Dale Konschuk's 87th with a hearty round of Happy Birthday sung.  Margie, your lunch was absolutely delicious.  Thank you ever so much.

WAYS AND MEANS DIRECTOR, Susan Newman is reporting that COMMUNITY LINKS IS bringing in the Airdrie Fire Department April 3rd at 2PM.  They will be doing a presentation on fire safety in the and around the home.  The do's and don'ts for keeping your environment safe from fire whether you are a home owner or a renter.

** I would like to encourage the membership to attend as it is disappointing when Community Links and their guest speakers go to the effort to do a presentation - especially on topics that have been asked about by seniors - and then only a few show up.

Topic coming up May 1st at 1:30 will be presented by the Airdrie Police Department on personal safety and related concerns.  Things like dating on the internet, what and how to be aware of one's surroundings, and so forth.

Other topics coming up in the future, will be on Elder Abuse. Programs and Benefits for seniors,  Canadian Dental Care Plan.

There is no Community Links presentation in July or August.

All of these topics are informative and relatable to/for seniors with opportunity for discussion.
