March 2025

March: The month that can’t decide if it’s winter or spring.

Welcome to all new members.

Message from the President

I would like to extend my gratitude to everyone who took the time to complete the Survey on Games. Your feedback is invaluable as we explore new activity formats that can enhance our events and leave a lasting impression.

We’re excited to share that we’ve recently purchased some new equipment, including a table tennis table and new curling rocks. Additionally, we are in the process of acquiring more items to replace older equipment and further improve our activities.

Thank you for your continued support and participation!

March 5th at 1:30 PM, Community Links will be hosting a guest speaker at the Airdrie Over 50 Club. Jamieson from the Airdrie Public Library will be present to speak with participants and assist in installing and using the Libby app. This will give participants access to the library's vast digital collection. Participants are encouraged to bring their own devices, such as phones, tablets, e-readers, Kobos, etc.

Additionally, time will be dedicated to addressing individual concerns or any general technology-related questions. This is a free presentation, but donations are gratefully accepted.

This is a members-only event with a limit of 60 people. A sign-up sheet is available at the club.

Reminders:

Mahjong

We have a new host, Norma Poirer, who has taken over hosting Mahjong. Currently, we have between 4 to 6 people attending, and Norma would love to see new faces come out and learn how to play. It’s a fun game, quite different from the tile-matching versions you may play on your iPad or computer. Norma is more than happy to teach anyone who wants to learn!

Mahjong is played every Friday at 1:00 pm at the Airdrie Over 50 Club, and you’re welcome to come any Friday to join in and learn. If you've been considering joining, please come out, as Norma is hoping to see more interest. If there is no increase in attendance, she plans to stop hosting Mahjong as of March 15th, 2025.

Hope to see you there!

Travel

There will be no travel trip in March. Look for information on a trip in April.

Please remember to check for them when you are at the club for an activity and make sure to collect yours. They are located on the desk by the sign in ipad.
