The memorial service/celebration of life for RICHARD BUCKLER from our club will be held on May 11, at 11AM at the Woodside Seniors Club on 411 Woodside Drive.

From Ways and Means Director:     On Wed. April 3 at 2PM, Susan Newman and Community Links brought in four people from the Airdrie Fire Department who gave an excellent presentation on how to help keep us safe in the home.  The information was enlightening and important.  There were four representatives who talked to a group of about twenty. As they were on duty we were fortunate that they were not called out on an emergency.  THANK YOU to Cindy O’Hara, the new liaison person at Community Links.  She is our representative and contact for all things related to seniors – now referred to as – wait for it . . . Older persons.

The next Community Links topic will be on WEDNESDAY, MAY 1st at 1:30 to be presented by the Airdrie Police Department on personal safety and related concerns.  Things like dating safely in our 50s, 60s, 70s, 80s, and beyond.  Please do make an effort to attend - even if you are not dating. In these challenging times knowing how to be aware and best protect ourselves is of growing concern on the internet (e.g. ROMANCE SCAMS), what and how to be aware of one's surroundings, and so forth.

There will be NO Community Links in June, July and August but will resume in September.

The Ways & Means Director – Susan Newman – is still seeking an individual(s) interested in taking on the responsibility of organizing Dinner & Dances about four to six times per year.  Susan will be a support to you in establishing a budget and so forth.  Please contact Susan via e-mail:  susanpnewman60@shaw.ca

Another successful Saturday, April 20 for KEN & FRIENDS  --  this time run by Ken's daughter, Michelle.    THANK YOU, MICHELLE AND ALL THE ENTERTAINERS who performed so we could have some fun, exercise, dance and socializing.  Sitting and listening to the singers and musicians is always such a pleasure.  Live music is AWESOME!!    An excellent luncheon was prepared by Debra Brothers who made sandwiches and a beautiful pineapple/cranberry iced cake.  She also provided Tim Horton’s muffins and other sweets.  A HUGE THANK YOU to the dedicated volunteers who make the effort to come every month and help set up, man the kitchen, do dishes and break down and clean up at the end.  Thank you to Lynne Wiley for ‘womanning’ the door and greeting our guests and musicians and handing out the draw tickets for a $10.00 gift card for Tim Horton’s.  There were about fourteen volunteers in all and because I don’t want to miss anyone I’ll just say again – THANK YOU!!  Without volunteers nothing would happen at the Club.  We had about 65 folks enjoying the music and the camaraderie.
